Meet Abbey

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Intern

Abbey Fitzgerald, LMHC-Intern

Abbey Fitzgerald, LMHC-Intern is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Intern at Clear Mind Westchester. She brings over 20 years of experience as a school counselor in Westchester County, where she partnered closely with children, adolescents, and their families from kindergarten through 12th grade. Throughout her career, Abbey has supported students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs across a wide range of developmental stages, learning styles, and family systems.

Abbey’s therapeutic approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practice. She believes that every child and family is unique, and she tailors her work to honor each client’s strengths, challenges, and goals. Drawing from her extensive background in educational settings, Abbey helps children build emotional awareness, regulation skills, resilience, and confidence, while also supporting caregivers as essential partners in the therapeutic process.

Abbey has pursued ongoing professional development in areas central to child and adolescent mental health, including mindfulness-based practices, social-emotional learning, executive functioning, and School Based Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Zones of Regulation, and community care.

Although much of Abbey’s experience has been school-based, her work in private practice is informed by a deep understanding of child development, family dynamics, and the real-world challenges children face both in and outside of school. She looks forward to working with families at Clear Mind Westchester to foster growth, emotional balance, and overall well-being in a supportive and welcoming therapeutic environment.

Outside of her professional work, Abbey enjoys spending time with her three sons, reading, hiking, listening to music, and being outdoors, interests that reflect her belief in balance, connection, and the importance of caring for the whole person.
