Parenting Support Group

Parenting Challenging Behaviors

This skill-based support group is ideal for parents who want to better understand their child’s behavior while also reflecting on their own responses. Rather than focusing on blame or quick fixes, we emphasize awareness, emotional regulation, and practical tools that can be applied in real-life situations.

Part 1: Learn and Observe

In the first phase of the group, parents will focus on building awareness and understanding. You will learn how to:

  • View your child’s unique behaviors more objectively

  • Recognize patterns and triggers without judgment

  • Understand your own emotional reactions and stress responses

  • Identify personal strengths as well as areas for growth

This foundation helps parents respond with greater clarity and intention.

Part 2: Acquire New Parenting Skills

The second phase emphasizes skill-building and collaboration. Parents will learn how to:

  • Regulate emotions to respond calmly and constructively

  • Improve communication and set clear, consistent expectations

  • Establish limits with confidence and empathy

  • Collaborate with like-minded parents and experienced therapists

  • Cultivate a balanced, effective, and sustainable parenting style

Throughout the group, participants are encouraged to ask questions, practice new skills, and support one another in a respectful and encouraging environment.

Group meets Tuesdays from 12:00–1:30 PM via Zoom.
