Meet Allison

LMSW

Allison Stahl, LMSW

Allison Stahl, LMSW, began her career working with children and adults from disadvantaged backgrounds, with extensive trauma histories, who struggled to have their basic needs met. Seeing her client’s ability to rise above their circumstances and find stores of resilience within themselves has led Allison to believe passionately in the individual’s ability to cultivate joy and meaning in their lives, no matter the trials that they face. She approaches therapy with the goal of creating a warm, collaborative, and safe environment and strives to help clients utilize their own inner resources and strengths to overcome their challenges.

Allison is trained in a diverse range of evidence based therapeutic modalities, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Parents, and Parent Management Training, and is currently training at the Ackerman Institute in Couples and Family Therapy. Allison has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families addressing a wide range of therapeutic needs including anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, ADHD, bereavement, and work, school, and family issues.

Allison earned her MSW degree with Honors from The Silberman School at Hunter College, her undergraduate degree with Honors from Haverford College, and a JD from Columbia University as a Stone Scholar. She lives in Westchester with her husband and teenaged daughter and an embarrassing number of pets. Allison is also mom to a 24-year-old son who is a recent college graduate, and a 21-year-old daughter who is currently in college. In her free time Allison volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), and she loves to play tennis, hike, read, and cook, and is currently learning to play Mahjong.
